I'm between coats painting the upstairs bathroom, and I don't have energy for much more than that today. I haven't updated in an extra special long time so here it is.

Work is fine. I'm enjoying IT despite the sometimes unreasonable expectations. The best part is knowing how all the interfaces work, being able to figure out why something failed to transfer and fixing it. The worse part is the meetings that take up time but don't accomplish anything. I like working from home. Not having to drive in with all the lunatics on the road every morning lowers my stress level.

The condo association is having a pile of drama. I half expected it because the former president had held that office for over a decade and knew what she was doing. The new one wasn't up to the challenge and quit. There was shouting at the last meeting, which I tried to suppress with calm reason. They want me to be the president. Though it will mean extra work and hassle, I don't see anyone else with any competence aside from the vice president eager to step up and take care of things. If the vice president had people skills, she'd be perfect. She's got great organizational skills. I wish she didn't let people push her buttons.

Another good thing about being at home so much is the amount of time I get to spend with the cats. Sonny is sixteen years old and fairly frail these days. After we got an abcess on his jaw cleared up, he's acting more lively, but he's not the robust cat he used to be. He's like an old man, cranky and forgetful. I keep saying he's got Katzheimers or feline dementia when he comes crying for more food after being fed less than an hour before. He doesn't like to be picked up anymore either. Because he's so bony, it must hurt a little, like arthritis. Oddly enough, he likes to sleep in the sink or on my work desk, which is a plastic folding table I got at Office Max, both hard surfaces. You'd think he'd want a fluffy blanket or pillow, but no.

There's a decent chunk of money sitting in my savings account awaiting being turned into a new kitchen. Some of the places I've investigated so far are too expensive. I really don't like the idea of going to Lowe's or Home Depot, but they will have the best prices for what I need done. I can also put some of the appliances on my Home Depot card and not pay any interest on them. If I can avoid giving money to them, I will. There's a guy in the neighborhood who does construction work whose opinion I'm going to get. His initial consulting fee will likely be a pitcher of beer. I hope I get the kitchen completed before fall.

Time for the first coat of paint. The primer is dry. Some of the pink from the previous owner was bleeding through, and we can't have that. Kilz primer should take care of that putrid pink so that it will never bleed through again.

I'm with you, get rid of the pink! You know there has to be pictures of the impending kitchen update, right? I'll be jealous evvery time I think how bad our kitchen needs the same thing.

Awww, time with the cats sounds awesome. (Is pink REALLY so bad?)

Painting the bathroom - without expecting a visitor ;-)? But indeed. Pink IS bad.

You'll make a very good president, I'm sure. If at all possible, you could always keep that vice-president for accounting and stuff :-p.

Poor Sonny. I remember a playful and proud animal...
Maybe his joints are inflamed and he's looking for relief on cool surfaces?

And, right - pics of new kitchen will be much appreciated :-D!

Pictures will ensue with the kitchen. Maybe even video. As soon as I get a cabinet and counter top supplier nailed down, it's gonna happen. I'm sick to death of the dead space and crumbling laminate.

Pink is dreadful. I cannot abide it. Part of the problem is the pervasive association of pink with girly crap and with Pepto Bismol, which my parents always gave me when I was sick, so I associate it with puking. Yuck.

I had painted it about ten years ago, but it needed it again. When I saw the pink, I knew it had to go.

We'll see how the condo thing works out. Juggling so much won't give me much time to write, though I've been ignoring that too much lately.

This old cat is getting as much love and whatever food he wants. I wish I could put some weight on him. Whenever his bowl is empty and he meows at me, I feed him. He's still skinny. I'll ask the vet if there's any treats that would put a few kilos on him.

I'm not sure if cats are allowed cheese. If they are, and he takes it, this would be an excellent way to put on weight.

There is such thing as cat dementia, as I sadly learned. How is his eyesight? Cats sometimes don't like to be picked up because they lose orientation, being disconnected from the stuff that marks the world around them, especially if they can't see very well.

Killz is indeed a pink-killer. I had 2 rooms in this place that were horrendously pink.

Jealous about the work at home. I miss it (and I'm telecommuting today, actually).

Congratulations on your work at home.

Hi - I really hate to bother you at your private journal, but you were listed as a moderator for "cf_resources". The owner, medusasbedhead, appears to have her journal set as private, and the latest cf_resources entry is from March, so I'm not really sure if anybody will see it if I post a reply to that post asking for help...

I just joined the cf_resources community so I could ask a question about doctors in my area, but when I try to post, I'm receiving the following error:

"Error updating journal: Client error: Maximum queued posts for this community+poster combination reached."

I haven't been on LiveJournal in ages, but remembered the community from a couple of years ago, so I figured I'd ask my question there, but I'm having an issue posting my question to the community... would you be able to help me with this, please? ;^^ If not, it's okay, I just wasn't sure who else to ask about it :x

Thankyou in advance - once again, sorry for bothering you at your personal journal ;^^
