Maybe I'll do a few loads of laundry before the game. There is alcohol for either celebrating or drowning our sorrows. Munchies have been obtained. Six and a half hours until kickoff. Plenty of time for pregame rituals that may or may not feature in wins or losses, but who wants to take a chance and not add to the energy? Not me.

I cannot for the life of me see why any self-respecting geek would give a penny of hard-earned money to that noxious organization. Unless you're addicted to some game or other that won't run on any other platform, there are perfectly decent substitutes for any Microsoft product. Vista appears to be just as shonky as the rest of the rubbish that crap factory has been shoveling out its doors for over a decade. Why give a shit about bloated code and security flaws when you can make the GUI look prettier and cram all sorts of extraneous equally pissy functionality into it? It's partly the fault of humanity that prefers the pretty GUI to well-running subroutines. People suck ass.

Going up to Shreveport for PPD and Ken's memorial. It's hard to believe Ken is dead. He was only in his late 50s. Not old at all by today's standards. Apparently he was one of two people who died at this year's Dragonfest in Colorado. At least he was doing what he loved at the end: bringing cool jewelry to the Pagan communities.

So much to get done. I'm going to have to give David either this or tomorrow evening to deliver the printer. If neither is convenient, it will have to be next week.

I tried to call [livejournal.com profile] lab_rattus back last evening and the evening before (she never seems to remember that I've got my writers' group on Monday nights). I hope her interview went OK. She seemed to be freaking out somewhat over it.

Ye flipping gods, I'm tired already and haven't even driven the diagonal of the state yet. It will be nice to see Brad again. He's letting us stay at his place.

PenguinPete's cat, Spot, was killed last night by neighborhood dogs. I explained that was one of the possibilities when Spot decided to be an indoor-outdoor cat. He could have also gotten run over by a car or ingested poison. Pete could not keep him indoors because Spot was a willful, little son of a bitch. When they moved to a nice neighborhood in Gentilly, Pete thought it would be OK to let him out as he wished since it was better than where they had lived Uptown. Turns out it wasn't really.

Spot: he lived fat, died fairly young and left a bloody corpse for my friend to bury.
