I haz new job!
Jan. 30th, 2011 02:28 pmI'll be joining the IT department when the International department shuts down in New Orleans. I'm relieved. I didn't want to have to look for a new job outside the company. I like stability. The best part is that they're still dithering on the other position I applied for in late November. The manager for the IT position called me right after MLK day, saying he had this position open and had a couple of other candidates, but that he wanted me to apply. I did so and completed all the preliminary assessments online and got the offer on Friday. The whole process took less than two weeks. The other department hasn't gotten off their keisters for over two months. Oh well. Their loss and IT's gain. I'm more of a nerd anyway.
So, there is no rest for me. The best part is that I will be able to work via laptop from home. No daily commute with its parking fees and wear-and-tear on my sanity and the car. I will be able to pet the kitties anytime I want. Win win.

Date: 2011-01-31 01:41 am (UTC)I loved working from home (I barely get to do it anymore). Telecommuting let me keep my last car an extra 3 years before I had to replace it.
