As promised, photo of the before. I'm putting them behind a cut. The last item for the bathroom won't be in until I'm out of town next week. Of course, it's not something minor like a toilet paper roll holder or a mirror; it had to be an integral part of the plumbing fixtures. Gaze at the ghastly pictures before. How about those awful rust stains, eh? Yuck.

How exciting! You're starting at the same place we were. So what's planned? New colors, pedestal sink, tile shower?

You're just going to keep us in suspense aren't you?

Basically, everything is going and being replaced with new.

Ugh. Frankly, I would not put my naked feet inside that bath. :-S

It's clean. The enamel is wearing off so it's rusting, and the hard water stains it. Even though I know that too, it skeeves me out.

Yeah. Of course, I didn't doubt that you were cleaning it. Probably more than you would do with normal-looking enamel. But as you say, the way it looks makes my skin crawl. May your renovations be swift and straightforward.

Wow - I can't remember it being this being as bad when I was there. How old was your tub?

I have one at least 40 years old but nowhere near as bad as that. Still, with the topmost layer of smooth lacquer practically gone at the base, I wonder if I'll live to see it get that far.

This can only get better, indeed :-D!

It's gotten bad over the past year. The enamel started to wear off, and it started to rust. The tub was installed when this place was built in '81. I started using abrasive cleanser to get rid of the hard water stains, and it wore away the enamel. The new tub is fiberglass. It will clean easier.

At least it's not pink. :)

But, yeah, that bathroom is due for a gutting.
