Starting Monday, I'll be working for six to eight weeks at a clinic in New Orleans East as a temp for someone who's having surgery. The pay isn't that great, but the work is easy. Maybe the folks over there will give me a foot in the door reference for somewhere else I've had my eye on.

Corpsman now has a newer, faster computer. The specs are: a 700Mhz Intel CPU, 128Mb RAM, 40Gb hard drive, 40X CD-ROM, onboard sound card, 3Com NIC and Altec Lansing speakers. The Frankensystem is running Mandrake 10.1. He's got a login at User Friendly if he ever decides to use it. He's got an email addy to which I sent him his first email. I gave him a better monitor. The colors are more vivid and easier on the eyes. He's happy as a clam. When he went on to his poker website, he was amazed at how fast it loaded.

Now I have to work on my new system so I can rotate my four-bay case out to Pete who needs a four-bay case. I've also got several other cases sitting around and pieces/parts enough to scavenge together another two or three systems. I hope I'll be motivated enough to get some of this stuff out of here before the wedding. I've got to get some penguin stickers for the fronts of the cases. My old biohazard one just doesn't seem fitting for a Linux system.

I've got downstairs cleaned up and vacuumed in preparation for a new class starting tonight. I've got my materials together to teach with and I've reviewed them for the umpteenth time. It's chilly today so I'll have a fire in the fireplace and some incense burning to make it a nice, toasty learning experience. My High Priestess mentioned that she thought I was ready to get my Third Degree. I know there's a hell of a lot more work involved than with First or Second. I might as well go for it. I've always come out the other side of degrees with a positive change in my life. The Goddess doesn't seem to want me to get lazy.

Congrats

Even if it's just temp work, at least you've got something. And my current (permanent) job started as a temp position.

Good luck with it. :-)

Any job that doesn't make you puke is a good job. Short term, at least. ;-)

Wootness!

First comes work, then comes... er a paycheck usually. ;)

Glad something has turned up, even if it is temporary and way beneath your talents.

Yay some work. Too bad it's not perminant but as you say maybe it will help get your foot in the door.

How many levels are their in wicca? I know there are a few before you become priestess but didn't realize how many in total there were. The books on wicca I have actually don't mention them as they are solitary books.

Over a year ago, we elevated two more people to Third Degree, one of whom left and the other of whom doesn't come to every Sabbat the way he should. When he gets his mundane act together, I'm sure he'll be around more often. If it's my time in the future, I don't plan on being scarce thereafter. I think there is value in having people around with degrees that can be aspired to. Degrees provide incentive for people to learn more and achieve more.

congrats!

It's a start, right? Once they see your abilities, who knows...!
Good luck. And for the third degree, too. Can't hurt ;-)!
