I need to expand my vulgar vocabulary. If anyone cares to enlighten me as to common curse words in languages other than English (with the English translation), I would be appreciative. I already know the French word for shit and I think the Spanish form is similar: mierde. I want to curse in German and Italian. I wish to hurl invective in many languages. Japanese would be lots of fun to curse in. Help me out here.

Sure. Why not.

Have I got a website for you.

Pick a language, any language (http://www.insultmonger.com/swearing/).

Ooooh, some of those look especially useful. >:->

Yea that's a great site. My friend Kirtai gave it to me before. I was having a bit of a laugh over some of the swedish and UK curses. :)

That is fucking awesome! Thanks!

I can't wait to spend time over there learning how to curse multilingually. Thank you so very much!

Curses! I've found another. ;-)

This thread (http://www.languagehat.com/archives/001444.php) at LanguageHat will be helpful as well. Interesting about the Japanese, but not very surprising. :)

Not bad

...but I wouldn't rely on it if I wanted to curse a native speaker. The Hebrew section has some very creative cuss expressions, but some are mistransliterated, some ignore gender (and it sounds very silly if you curse a woman using the masculine "you"), and some are translated incorrectly. Never mind the redundancy. Also, some are rather high-level and wouldn't be used in a conversation without throwing your partner into fits of laughter. It's like saying to someone "May thy mother be bedded by equines".

I wondered...

about some of the less "mainstream" languages. It's fairly accurate for the German and Spanish that I know. The site is a contributive effort, so presumably native speakers have had their input.

Huh

When I tried to open that site, it attempted to download two trojan viruses on my computer.

and damn that site. Now I have some weird ass tool bar on my browser. So I run my spyware stuff to see if I can get rid of it that way and I suddenly have all this spyware for sex sites. What the hell! I have a bad feeling MIS will be calling today.

Ooooh - shite... My commiserations.
Hope you'll be able to kick "MIS"s ass - hard. Whatever it/s/he may be ;-).

You using IE?

I get nothing from there, even scanning with AVG and AdAware.

Tell MIS that, heh. :)

You act like I have a choice in the matter. The company built its software around IE and so that is the only browser I can use.

For some reason, when I clicked on that link, it downloaded some toolbar on my browser along with about 300 different spyware programs. I was freaking amazed.

Don't trust that site for the french stuff.
:(
It has some really weird mistranslations/typos.
There is one where it says:
"Comprend bien, tu parles à un con"
That doesn't mean "You're so stupid, people pity you" but :
"Understand you are speacking to an idiot"
This would imply that you yorself are the idiot, not the person you are trying to insult.

Other things in there are just as weirdly phrased....
Like the one that says "I need to go back to the whore that delivered me" (Me faut retourner à la pute qui m'a accouchée)

Just don't rely to much on that site, ok?
:)

You got it all, on that site!

I checked the Swiss-German and was surprised - accurate, albeit not sorted for the different dialects. These are from all over. Note that you are free to combine words, as in "Hueregopfertamisiechnanemal" ;-). And the really fun ones are of course those that you create on situation. When I worked in that bar, you would ask a customer "Sind Sie bedient"? (Have you been served) - or ask a collegue if she had already served him. So Ida once answered, "Gseesch nöd, das isch en ganz extreem bediente!!" (Can't you tell, this guy is certainly extremely served!)
So the new bad word was "So Bedient!!" for years :-). I still use it off and on.

Ooh - did that spellchecker ever have fun with that....

Wow

I wonder how a game of scrabble ends in German... probably the scores are 5-digit...

Hehehe... right. Mostly, you lack the tiles, of course ;-)! And they do work alone, of course.

If you really want some creative ones...

That's lots and lots of Mandarin phrases, some fairly creative and/or unorthodox, as is the mind of Joss Whedon...

Here's a few possibly-handy Japanese phrases:

"Zakennayo!" - Fuck off
"Omae wa dare da?" - Who the fuck are you?
"Baka ka" or "Baka yaro" - Stupid asshole
