Much to do today.
Oct. 27th, 2005 10:11 amPete's coming over after work to hang for the weekend and continue dragging debris from his former apartment. We're going to build his new computer while he's here. That means I have to clear my test bench and swap monitors. I should probably tidy up in the office to give us room to work. I'm giving him a 17" monitor, keyboard, CD-ROM drive and whatever else is laying around that he might need to have a functional system. Too bad I don't have another ATX case lying around with four full-sized bays. The last one I swapped with him had four bays, two of which he filled with those cool-assed removable hard drive trays, the other two of which were for a CD-ROM and a DVD burner.
It was chilly and windy along the levee last night. Keeping candles lit for the MoveOn.org vigil was difficult. We met a lot of cool new people. Corpsman is probably going to join Veterans for Peace. Most of the participants were either veterans or still in the reserves. One of the guys is setting up computer systems and has a shipment of 300 Macs coming in a few weeks he needs help testing. I told him I hadn't touched a Mac in over a decade, but offered to help.
When I went downstairs to feed the cats this morning, my coffee was waiting for me. The timer function works. The automatic shut-off function works too. I went for another cup a while ago and it had shut off. Happy, happy, joy, joy.
UFie news: Illiad put out a request yesterday in this post asking for someone to provide content for his new website. I applied and we'll see what happens. I know I only lurk over there now, but that doesn't mean I don't miss the old days before the cabal ruined it for so many of us. Maybe in some small way I can have a positive effect from behind the scenes.

Date: 2005-10-27 06:53 pm (UTC)Or not. Just me being nosy again :-D.
I have heard of Veterans for Peace. Not much, but enough to like the idea.
And I'm sure you would be wonderful on these Macs, as well. They are not *that* different, I am sure. And the OS is of course self-explanatory and totally friendly (and gets more handsome every year) ;-)!
A timed coffee maker sounds - terribly american, yeah, but also rather desirable :-D. Enjoy!
