Damned cat!
Feb. 3rd, 2006 10:39 pmCain, the Siamese, is missing. The front door blew open and he went out. Sonny went out with him, wisely came back in after Corpsman yelled at him. Cain hasn't been seen since about 8:30 and I'm worried. It's cold and windy tonight and he's old at fourteen. I've been out with the flashlight and cat treats every fifteen minutes calling him. It may be too windy for him to hear me if he's gone far. I've looked out on Clearview to see if he's run into traffic and gotten killed. Shit!
I hope he decides to come home tonight and if not, I hope he decides to come home in the morning for breakfast. What the hell possesses house cats to want to run outside where their food and water bowls aren't?

Date: 2006-02-04 05:02 am (UTC)I'm suprised your kitty has been out this late. I'm used to my cats going for it during the day. They see just so much out there and they want to go play. My hedgehog is like that but she gets terrified if I carry her outside. Too much noise and people. Though maybe she'll change her mind in the summer when I take her onto the grass.
Too bad there isn't some other distinct sound your kitty knows that might make them come back or distinct smell. It's an old enough kitty after he got out, sniffed the air, satisfied his wild sides curiosity I'm guessing he went to hide under a house or car to wait out the ick. Does he have a cat bed that can be weighed down and put on the porch? Maybe he'd seek it out when it gets quieter and hide in it's warmth. So then when you open the door in the morning he's safe, sound and comfy.

Date: 2006-02-04 05:09 am (UTC)I had a crappy night's sleep last night from stomach issues and the night before was a thunderstorm that spawned a few tornadoes around the area. I'm really tired and need to sleep, but I keep going back out into the cold like some zombie looking for his stupid furry ass. I am not happy about having to go looking all over the neighborhood for him in the morning.

Date: 2006-02-04 05:16 am (UTC)I heard something dimly on news about tornados but I never really thought you'd get them where you live. I guess I should of considered though it's sort of a bowl shaped area it didn't look in old news footage like there were mountains to help break up such things easier.(we get dust devils here and small water spouts but nothing damage invoking. More just interesting things to watch and toss a twig or something at)
Have you taken some ginger for your stomach or eaten some spice cookies? That might help calm it a bit. I've got into consuming such things a bit more since I went off my tummy med.(as usual a man made medicine has started to cause other illness that can be life threatening... pariet and a few other stomach drugs fit that at the moment)

Date: 2006-02-04 07:38 am (UTC)We once had to look for one of my guinea pigs half a night - he had dug himself pretty far into the ground...
Here's to hoping that your Cain will find his way back unharmed!
I hope your cat comes back soon.
Date: 2006-02-04 09:00 am (UTC)Cats are usually quite adept at staying out of trouble and they are real survivors. If it's that cold he's probably found himself a nice warm patch to kip down in and he will turn up in the morning wondering what the fudd id about.
Or you could suscribe to the Pratchett theory that he's a Shroedinger cat and he's nipped round a corner in space-time to enjoy the big welcome home feast and petting you will give him when he gets back.
