Strokin' was by Clarence Carter, I think. I haven't heard that song in about 13 years, and I can still remember the part about "...don't stroke so fast / And if my stuff's not tight enough / You can stroke it in my ..." *gouges out eardrums*

And which am I: über smart or hella funny? :D

I flunked Algebra several times in College. Ruined my GPA. They started testing me for learning disabilities but I never did pass that class. I ended up getting a substitute credit instead.

I'm impressed...

Would you defiine "substitute credit" for me? Congrats for sticking it out and getting a degree anyway. I do have the disability, and university was out of bounds completely.

Well, I somehow survived to my senior year but I just couldn't finish that damn class. So, as a last ditch resort, I saw a school advisor. One of the head advisors for the university. He agreed that I had obviously invested a great amount of time, money and effort into that Algebra class. And even though we hadn't nailed down the learning disability, he believed that it would be in both our best interests to substitute the math credits with courses in my major (they ended up being Lit courses). I held on an finally graduated. But it wasn't easy or a happy time in my life. I was depressed all the time and didn't go out, date or do anything social. You could say I had a rainbow of issues. heh!

WOW. That is fabulous. Even if you hated it all, you managed that degree!
I just had to admit to myself that it wouldn't work. In my times, discalculy wasn't even on the horizon... So I quit school altogether at 14, having almost completed all other subjects, though (was a boarding school with a neat course system). I must say I had a lot of fun in the years to come, and only start missing that degree now, in old age, when looking for a job ;-).

Did you know that today, it is actually plain obvious what happens in brains like ours? We send the problem to a region that is not able to deal with it. Wrong hemisphere. You can watch it at (not) work, in shrieking colour ;-).

You think just the song "strokin" is bad?! They played that at the country wedding I attended a few weeks ago, and the guests danced the ELECTRIC SLIDE to it!!
I was .... gobsmacked...Yeah, I think that's the only word that fit, really. It was bad. And I actually *like* the song....

Rebecca?!

Seriously? Wow. It *is* a good book, but... Not sure what I'd pick, though. Probably something by Christa Wolf... Or even Nancy Friday. Or Susan Sontag...?

*waves*
