I love my palm tree.
Sep. 16th, 2006 05:58 pmIts rampant fronds have now obscured the view of the decaying hardware store across the street. As I sit and look out the window, I only see their splashes of green. That should be a good thing for a few years until it gets taller and then I'll see the rotting hulk again under their canopy. Maybe by that time, someone from the Parish will have condemned that property and either had it torn down or it will be sold and renovated. A girl can hope.
Those damned cats woke me up at the crack of 7:30. I am unable to sleep in on weekends to the extent that I'd like to due to meowing and general furry commotion in the vicinity of my pillow. Though I tried to get an early start so I could go be more helpful to my painting pals, I didn't get out to the supermarket until 10:00. Then I found I had a flattish tire on the way home. Arrive home, take the groceries inside, put them away, change the tire then head to the tire place for a new one. They had none in stock, of course, so I'll have to pick it up Monday.
Before I left, I emailed
goddessmusings to let her know I was running late. I got there shortly after Noon and we finished the trim in their bedroom. That's going to look fabulous when they pull the tape off tomorrow. The laundry room looks awesome. There's no way anyone would have thought that possible last weekend before we got started. The walls were just so dingy. They were also dry as the Arizona desert. I've never seen walls so thirsty that they absorbed two coats of Killz and still could have taken more. The pale gold color looks great. I'm sure there will be photos posted in her journal as soon as the work is all done and the chaos restored to order.
I'm now in the mood to do some more painting here. The upstairs bathroom could use some paint. I'm trying to think of something that will go with the pale blue marble shower surround and sink. Maybe a pale yellow? Then I'd like to repaint the bedroom black and get the ceiling at the same time. After the ceiling dries, I've got some glow-in-the-dark stars I'm going to put up there to look cool. Make up my own constellations.

The palm is gorgeous alright - hope it won't grow too fast. In your climate, I'm afraid "a few years" is quite a lot of hope :-P.
You could always paint the bathroom black, too - or some grey, even. Blueish grey would look deadly elegant, I'm sure. And stars on that bedroom ceiling will just look awesome. It's awesome already, of course. I will never forget my first look in there ;-)! I guess I even shut my mouth for a minute or two - or left it hanging open...
Plan for the future
