Data collection of phase one of the analysis of the US government for one century is completed. We know now how many Democrats and Republicans have served in three branches of government since 1900. We also know how the balance of power ebbed and flowed during that time period. The data will be graphed more appropriately than in my last entry as soon as schedules permit.

I suspect obtaining the requisite economic data for phase two will be more problematical. Stay tuned for the results in lovely, colorful graphs. I have a suspicion that the assertion that the Republicans are so persecuted is a bogus one as borne out by the averages of 54.24% Democrats and 45.25% Republicans in the House and 51.38% Democrats and 47.89% Republicans in the Senate with an overall percentage of 52.81% Democrats and 46.57% Republicans in Congress overall. The rest of the percentage is made up of other or independent parties. Overall, the data looks fairly even with a slight Democratic advantage that would account for the steady progress over the century.

"Never trust a statistic you didn't fake yourself."

I hope that the statistics are close to the truth.

There aren't statistics, as in probabilities. These are direct data from historical records.

"A lawyer's first job is to discredit the other guy's evidence." WHo said that?

"...Lies, damn lies and statistics." (S.C.)

Direct data or probabilities, all stats can be twisted to fit the goal. Don't expect that these stats will convince anyone who isn't already convinced. Just do the best you can with presenting them as unbiasedly as possible.

No idea who said the lawyer quote, but that seems about right. :)

The quote I like is

Actually, he didn't.

I can't give a reference now, but I read somewhere that the Nazis' propaganda people made that quote up to damage Churchill's reputation. It's still a good quote, but apparently Churchill never said it.

hey wait just a minute!

Apparently, we're not only persecuting Republicans, but we're also persecuting Christians. Somehow the song "We're Not Gonna Take It" by Quiet Riot comes to mind. Very strange.

persecuting Christians...

Let's start with my Cousin Harvey the Evangelist Preacher, eh?. Now, where's my softball bat, the aluminum one that goes "ping" when you hit something with it?

Excellent song!

"No! We ain't gonna take it!"

Y'know what I'm not gonna take any more? People trying to get me to turn off my filters. Case in point: those Orbitz commercials with all the blue retro-graphics, and that annoying little jingle they sing. "Don't think twice" indeed. I'm so glad I have a mute button on my remote control. What made those ad execs think that a slogan like "don't think twice" would go over well in the middle of "educational" programming (like TLC, History Channel, Discovery Channel)? Okay, maybe it's not entirely educational; I think it's at least partially propogandistic, and they're trying to get us to blindly accept everything we see on television.

Ah well; I'm probably "preaching to the choir" here, so I'll shut up.

"Don't think twice" is a precursor to "don't think at all". You're right. They're a pile of bastard swine.

I like Twisted sisters version of "We're not gonna take it" better. :)

I also like this research but my "baaah sheep" level is dangerously high at the moment so writing down my opinions coherently is not happening.

*looks a previous sentence*
Forget it, no form of coherent writing at ALL in the near future.

To be continued...
