I have a friend who works for a Capital One bank down there near Barksdale. I'm not sure where her bank is. It used to be a Hibernia before it got bought out.
Thanks. Yeah, this job is in the main branch that used to be the main Hibernia branch in town. I love that old building. It feels like stepping back into the '50s just getting on the elevator. You could almost expect to bump into Cary Grant or Jimmy Stewart. They're doing some remodeling and the department will be moving to another floor, but I hope they don't lose the building's flavor.
Thanks. I don't know what I can do yet. Judging from the piles of stuff I saw during the interview today, I'll be up to my eyeballs in catchup crap for several months to begin with. I've got to go in the attic and find my briefcase. There's no desk for me until after we move. I'll need something to schlep stuff around in the meantime.
Thanks. Talking to software vendors, writing desk instructions, user maintenance in the database, liaising with the main IT department, coordinating daily processes, no not too bad. Initially, it's gonna be a bear because of the backlog of crap, the move to another floor and the learning curve.
Congrats! Seems you landed a real carreer there ;-)!
You don't really want to know what's in my wallet, right ;-)? Let0s just say a lot of stuff I should weed out one of there days, and a monthly ticket to Egg... Oh, and cash, and cards, and stuff.
Don't forget to hide any bounty hereabouts, ok :-D?
Thanks. That asking about your wallet is a reference to their advertising campaign here in the states. At least you have a monthly ticket to Egg. Hell, I'll be in international banking; I should be able to wangle a trip to Zurich in a few years.
Thanks. I admit I was envying you for having a great job. Now we both have great jobs, excellent husbands and lots of happy pets to love. I probably didn't mention it at the time, but those videos of the kittens were adorable. Whenever I would stress at my previous job, I'd play the kitty video hit parade and calm down. Thanks for posting those.
oh, i love the building on Carondelet. I used to teach occasionally for the ComputerLand store that was in the building at the corner of Carondelet and Common. Excellent, glad you're employed again. Now I have an excuse to come downtown for lunch... :-)
Congrats! New jobs with good pay are always a good thing.
I had the flattering privilege of getting 'head-hunted' by a former colleague yesterday. It was a nice job, but I am happy where I am at. Good techs are worth their weight in gold, I've discovered. People are always trying to poach me.
I got this one from Monster. I know I'm going to be happier in the new position. I really don't do well when there are no goals, working for people with Attention Deficit Disorder and in atmospheres of Jerry Springer Show-like drama. Most of the people in my new job have been there forever and those who work out tend to stay. I like that. I really don't like job hopping.
No, yes, no, no and no. No need for a condom, (can't imagine what stories are circulating about FEMA workers deployed away from home), and everyone else has to find their own...XD
International banking reminds me of Whoopi Goldberg in Jumpin Jack Flash. I really have no idea, but I bet it will eventually involve talking to people with heavy accents.
OMG! I love that they kept the old mail chutes and the elevators are totally awesome. We'll be moving down to a floor without a view, but the renovation should make up for it. I hope I get a nice sized cubicle. They've got brand-new systems. I'm going to see if I can convince them to give me a laptop.
And the best part is that there's so little traffic on Tulane since many of the businesses along there were flooded, I'll be able to get in to the CBD quite easily. I've got a parking garage lined up two blocks from the office. I'm happy.
How about your email addy? I've got your lovely wife's, but the only one I had for you was your work addy from SGI. Am I safe in assuming she forwarded the notice that Second Degree classes would be starting after the beginning of the year?
Yes, I'm a bit of a barbarian myself. I wonder how the Pagan thing will go over with the nice Catholic ladies who work there.
Dude, I'm so sorry I missed having a chance to talk to you at Pagan Pride Day and I really wanted to if I'd known you were there. I'll make it up to you by buying you a coffee some evening in the near future at the Neutral Ground, OK?
That sounds like a good idea. I haven't been to the Neutral Ground since before the storm - I was scheduled to play that very night that we left town. Ironic, no? But yes, setting up a time/date to have java at the NG would be a grand thing.
For the payment... You can't really compare Europe (and especially Germany) with the USA. But I hope you afford a bit more than just the basics like rent, food, beverages and clothes.
Thanks. The cost of living has gone up due to increased gas prices due to the cost of a barrel of oil. I'll be doing fine unless the economic shit really hits the fan.
Conga-rats, line up and dance! Things are just going good for you, eh? Well, it's thoroughly deserved and I wish you much luck. Sounds like an interesting position too.
My wallet contains too much paper and not enough money ;) But some of that paper are notes with contact details, which means potential contracts and thereby money, so it's not half bad.
Oh, and how about that Senate... Montana and Virginia, nice states, and two words: Subpoena power! Don't know which pleases me more, Burns and Allen getting the boot. Probably "Macaca" Allen by a hair.
in my wallet is some money, my passport, my driver's license, my bank card, my insurance card, membership cards of several clubs, business cards of people I met/knew/know and some more pieces of paper... :) and a monthly ticket of the public transport network in Munich.
Excellent! Congrats!! Shiny!!!

Date: 2006-11-11 12:34 am (UTC)I have beads in my wallet, little beads that came off my blouse. They're safe there till I get them sewed back on.
I have $600 in play money my son gave me when he was four - strange how at even four, kids know what's going on.
Now I'm wandering when what I really wanted to say was Congratulations!! International Banking should be interesting.
