I've had issues for the past 24 hours with not being able to log in to LiveJournal. Everywhere else on the 'net was swell. Yesterday, Cox must have been fooling with the connections because the TV, phone and Internet all flaked off and on for a couple of hours.

At work, I finally got all my logins and have been assuming more duties. We have a test system running a new module that has to have end of day run on it as well as the live version. On Monday, I'm going to have to figure out how the test system balances to make sure the data is posting correctly. Some day in the coming week or so, I'm going to have a look at our prospective new space on the fourth floor. My boss wants me to help coordinate the move and I'm going to make sure the drops for the phones and computers are well-situated so that it won't be a hassle to get to them if necessary.

There are pumpkin muffins in the oven to take to work tomorrow. Those people enjoy their communal breakfast ritual. I may as well add something tasty to the mix. The house smells delicious.

Class was good this morning. We won't be meeting again until after the first of January. I've got a full house. We use both couches and three dining room chairs. So far they've been doing very well on their homework and class participation. Next time, I'm going to give them the Book of Shadows requirements and let them get an early start.

I didn't get to have coffee this week with [livejournal.com profile] happydog like I had planned. I also didn't get to lunch with [livejournal.com profile] ratkrycek yesterday the way I wanted. Thursday, I met with Joseph and Pete at the Rue on Oak for coffee. I had gotten there late because end of day took longer than usual and because I stupidly took St. Charles all the way down to Carrollton. It took me fifteen minutes to get to Louisiana Avenue from Gravier and St. Charles. If I ever do that again, I'm either going to take Tulane or Earhart to Carrollton. Invariably the twerp causing traffic to constipate has out-of-state plates. Then there was the tree crossing the street. A delivery truck was parked on the neutral ground and two guys hauled a big-assed tree into one of the mansions down close to State Street. The rich folk have to have their twenty-five foot tree. It may not have been exactly that length, but it was certainly longer than two of the more obnoxious SUVs parked end-to-end.

Saints game tonight. I've actually gotten some writing done this weekend. A breakthrough came in Chapter 4 which had been a throbbing hemorrhoid for a while. I've also got a clear idea what Chapter 5 will encompass and where to divide it into another chapter. I wanted to have thirteen chapters, but it looks like I have to revise that unless I can combine two later chapters. Maybe that's doable. I don't know since I really haven't thought much about that final third of the book yet.

Hmm, I think I've got one last load of laundry to get done before kickoff. The weekend has flown by. Time has been hauling ass lately. It's been running faster than a hamster on meth. I noticed it Friday big time. Fridays usually drag for me. Not that one. I had barely had two cups of coffee and time to breath when it was Noon. I finished the last reports and then it was time to run end of day. One last sweep through to make sure everyone's machine had been left on and they were logged out for a software update this weekend and I was a gone pecan. Yesterday was grocery shopping day, which only took a couple of hours, but the time flew by anyway. Older people have always told me that time goes faster the older you get. I remember time dragged interminably when I lived in Indiana where there was nothing to do but watch the corn grow. I guess it's a blessing to be somewhere and live a life that is so exciting that time seems compressed.

Mixed blessing, that....

But let me assure you: It's mostly the new job, right now. I have only lately noticed time dragging a bit, again :-). It will slow down once routine settles in.

The years will go faster and faster all the same, though :-).

A communal breakfast ritual? Sounds NICE!

Hey, were you the one who sent me a morning after pill earlier this year?

If so, I want to thank you. I never ended up using it, but my school's health services and the local PP are closed on Sundays and your kindness helped out one of my dorm mates big time.

Happy Holidays.

No, but if I'd known you needed one and had one, I would have done so. I hope you find your benefactor to thank him/her appropriately.
