I cannot for the life of me see why any self-respecting geek would give a penny of hard-earned money to that noxious organization. Unless you're addicted to some game or other that won't run on any other platform, there are perfectly decent substitutes for any Microsoft product. Vista appears to be just as shonky as the rest of the rubbish that crap factory has been shoveling out its doors for over a decade. Why give a shit about bloated code and security flaws when you can make the GUI look prettier and cram all sorts of extraneous equally pissy functionality into it? It's partly the fault of humanity that prefers the pretty GUI to well-running subroutines. People suck ass.

I could fucking puke hearing how Gerald Ford "restored civility" to the presidency. He pardoned Nixon. Fuck his nasty old soul to hell. Why, pray tell, was it a noble thing to pardon that rat bastard who actually perpetrated high crimes and misdemeanors instead of let him be impeached? Why, pray tell, was it so fucking crucial to impeach Clinton for lying about a matter that should have been private between him and his wife? Ask a Republican if you can get a logical answer for that one. I'm half tempted to email the fuckwit I used to date in high school and pose that question, but he's such a spaz he never replies in anything like a coherent thought with a complete sentence, including punctuation and grammar. I'm sure he does it to spite his mother who taught Home Ec and English.

Hallelujah that John Edwards is running for president again. He should run until he wins. We don't need any more of these born-rich shits-for-brains oozing their entitlement all over our government. We need someone who was born humble and who worked for whatever money they have. The results of the blood money in the Bush crime family that started accumulating from the Nazi regime during World War II are evident in the amoral policies of a corrupt current regime. It's not enough that they didn't do anything but squirt out of some rich bitch's snatch, they have to loot the treasury of hard-working taxpayers who weren't born with silver spoons up their asses.

Lastly, I leave this post with a picture of the Wheel of the Year cake we had at Yule.

Here's a good rundown of Vista problems.

Though I'm a conservative in many respects, I agree with what you said about the impeachments. The presidents sex life should be his own private buisness as long as it does not interfear with national security or him doing his job. He should have had to deal with Hilary, not the government, that's to close to violating the seperation of church and state.

I definately want to see some more born poor folks in higher parts of government for sure. Unfortunately I don't know enough about Edwards (my own personal lack of research) to give an opinion on him.

As for the cake, that looks awesome! Was each season a different flavor? To be fair, Louisiana and this part of Texas aren't all that different, shouldn't summer be about half, with about 3/16ths fall, 3/16ths spring and the other 1/8th being winter?

And I wonder if the thing will indeed qualify as "pretty". Can't beat the mac, I'm sure :-P.

But I still won't spend hours and hours struggling with some form of Linux only to feel underprivileged at every second download ;-). Hard enough to realize my dear old win98 is not really playing anymore for anything new and nifty... At least this looks acceptable, compared to XP, though.
Yeah, I guess I'm part of the problem, here. Design me a halftone black/white interface, and I'll run - hey, even Linux, I'm afraid :-D!

Edwards? I'm not convinced... He reminds me of Blair in too many ways. Not to be born rich isn't automatically a good thing. An "upstart" will always end up more fierce once he's reached the top. Or what he makes out to be top, even... Besides, he too looks a bit overdesigned ;-).
But since you are behind him, I'll pay some more attention now and follow his progress attentively. Anything to get the buggers out of there for good!

Wish you and your goof sailor a very happy new year!

I wish the worst thing I could say about any given OS was that I didn't like the colourscheme. That'll be the day. ;P

WinXP in “classic” mode looks pretty much like Win2K, which looks like Win98. The difference is that it finally has memory protection which works, roughly a decade-and-a-half after OS/2 was doing it.

Hehehe - I *said* I was more of a problem. I'm just no geek, me. Never was, never will be, I'm afraid. I want it to work, and that's that. Pretty is a bonus, though. As classic as it gets, XP doesn't really deliver, in fact :-P.

But I really miss my big mac, to be honest. I loved its mild colouring, and the "Spaltendarstellung" - of the folders, now :-D. And Safari.

*salutes the geek(s)*

I think ythat you may be wrong on the MSFT front. Visio is rather difficult to replace.

Visio pissed me off when I tried to use it back in 99. I replaced it with MS Paint and made some really nice flow charts. Example here.

Which aren't maintainable.

Mind you, neither are proprietary nasty things with crap editors. I've given up on trying to use programmes with proper graph semantics, as they all seem to suck so very, very hard, and just use SVG, wasting time on having to do things at a presentation level. Sigh.

pen and peper is the best way to draw flow charts
