Crappy, rainy weather day.
Jan. 27th, 2007 05:38 pmI went into the office today for a backup and restore test. Too bad we couldn't print out our results for the sake of the audit. Oh well, I got all my user entitlements updated and a head start on next week. We'll print on Monday when we have one of the programmers there to fix the print options in the software.
Wrestling with balancing transactions between software packages at work is exhausting. Where the hell do they go? I don't know. I can't look at the queues on the server, only through the software and that tells me exactly diddly and squat. I'm going to talk to the programmer while he's here all this upcoming week.
How lovely to have so much to do! I'm trying to get caught up with the edits to the First Degree manual and compile everything for the Second Degree manual since classes start a week from tomorrow. I gave my first draft of the Second Degree book to Vel the other night. In the meantime, I haven't done much on my novel and the writers' group has dwindled a bit since we lost one of the guys. He wasn't happy with the structure so he left.
We have been rewatching the HBO series Rome for the past week. I had forgotten how good it was and there were chunks that I didn't remember from the first time. That has sort of made up for the lack of House the past few weeks. I can't believe they preempt a good show for that crappy American Idol horseshit. I also got my hands on a copy of the complete Firefly in a buy-one-get-one-free bin at Barnes and Noble. After Rome, I'll want to rewatch that.
It's now dark, rainy and chilly. Time to curl up with some TV, some alcohol and the warmth of several cats and my hubby.

Crummy weather here too.

Date: 2007-01-28 02:53 am (UTC)That's a great picture of you in your icon. We should really get some coffee or a cocktail or three sometime, since you're now finding yourself downtown every day.

Date: 2007-01-28 04:17 pm (UTC)Since you're close to the Marigny, how about PJ's over on Frenchman? Is it still there? I've been to many of the Uptown coffee shops, but not any past the Quarter. The earliest I could make it over that way would be around 6:00-ish since I don't get out of the office until 5:30 at the earliest.

Date: 2007-01-29 05:11 am (UTC)There is a Z'otz in the location of the old Siam Cafe'. It's a total gutter punk place, but it is convenient.

Date: 2007-01-28 10:32 am (UTC)Seeing you - and all the others - work like horses does something good for my own "motivation", somewhat. After long days I always tell myself that most of you are working much harder than me and somehow even manage to enjoy it ;-)!
Glad to hear you're having some curling up time, as well :-D.

Date: 2007-01-29 12:31 pm (UTC)However, I have read the
indentured servitude agreementcontract that Idol requires a contestant to sign, so I don't really hold hope that they will give a better break for any songwriter entries, either. At least I can use that as the reason why my own kid will NEVER be on that show while she's a minor... Simon owns your butt for 7 years, as far as any entertainment career goes, regardless of whether you are accepted or rejected (that's the "short version" of the contract). It's sickening.
