American dog and cat owners need to go to this website and check to see if any pet food in their pantries are on the lists. You'll probably have to fool with the formatting since these wankers have no clue how to format a nicely printing spreadsheet. Print the lists for the brands you know you have and go look.

This is perhaps the largest pet food recall in the history of the country. The incompetence and cronyism in the FDA and other regulatory agencies have finally filtered down to hurting innocent pets. Many animals have died as a result. First peanut butter, now pet food.

I'm so tired. I don't get any rest over the weekends any more. There's always something to do. Tomorrow is the Ostara picnic. Had lunch with Pete today at Little Tokyo II on Carrollton. There are some fabulous fish lights I want to get Vel for when she builds her new house. I'm going to make them tell me who did their decorating and find out where those damned lights came from. It also looks like Kanpai is rebuilding. The Popeye's that was on the corner is torn down. After lunch, I went shopping at Lady Moon Gifts. I got some supplies and a few nifty things. I've been needing a new chalice and finally the one that is perfect for me showed up at Anja's shop.

Hubby is watching the Cubs this afternoon or I'd be watching more episodes of Firefly with him. Instead, I'm trying to get some writing done. I actually got a couple of scenes finished this week and need to get the chunks correctly divided between the two chapters I'm working on. I feel like a slacker every week at writers' group when I don't take something to be critiqued.

Only canned and pouch foods are involved in the recall, regardless of the brand, and according to the company only 'cuts w/gravy' varieties.

Purina isn't on the list at all and that's all my cat gets. The ferret gets Marshall's kibble (they don't recommend soft foods for them at all).

Thanks for the heads up. I checked my boy's food and they're not on the list. And they certainly don't act like they're ill. ;)

It's Leilah from Westgate. I just read about this on Drudge. The spinach isn't safe, neither is pet food, and I just threw it all out as well. Thanks, btw for caring and signing our guestbook. Email me when you can. We Katrina folk need to pow-wow

We miss the hell out of you guys. Hubby and I are still happy after our handfasting in your beautiful place. Feel free to drop me an email anytime. When next I go up to Alexandria or Shreveport to visit witch friends, I'll stop in Opelousas and say hi.

The incompetence and cronyism in the FDA and other regulatory agencies have finally filtered down to hurting innocent pets. Many animals have died as a result. First peanut butter, now pet food.

This is irrational. Although there are issues within the FDA that can be linked to administration policy they haven't got jack shit to do with salmonella-ed peanut butter, e. coli-ed lettuce, or kidney failures in pets.

There's no evidence that the FDA has contributed to the problem this recall addresses either by complicitness or by omission. Although a wide-range of companies' brands are involved, that hardly makes it the 'largest recall'. There have been 10 known pet deaths linked in any way (and at this point may still turn out to be coincidence) not thousands (despite the widespread distribution of the product). The company is voluntarily recalling the effected food, even though they haven't been able to find a toxic mechanism.

Fear-mongering is stupid when the neocons do it with respect to terrorism, and it's stupid when done with respect to "killer" foods. By all means, stop feeding your pets the recalled food, but this doesn't rise to evidence of incompetence. If anything, it shows the system works.

....made my poor old lady laptop freeze as soon as I wanted to read all about it - twice :-).

Hope yours are all well!

Fish lights?! I'll give you the benefit of doubt :-P.
And you do need a weekend off once in a while, you know?!

Give Pete a wave from me, or a hug, if appropriate!

*waves/hugs*
