Really, dude? All you're doing is respelling it. The same crap with a different label is last year's cliché: lipstick on a pig.

This is the dumbest idea I've heard in a very long time.

that's pretty much the consensus on Slashdot as well.

I commented about this on Slashdot yesterday.

I stated the Sci-Fi channel had been moving away from Sci-Fi for years anyways. They had a good thing going with some of the old Sci-Fi shows they kept canceling. We all know how important it is to replace things like First Wave, The Invisible Man, and Farscape with things like stuck on an island with a really big snake, or raptor, or chupacabrea.

Such a waste. So many good original series killed to early, to many purchased from other networks and promptly ruined, and to much focus on creature features.

I wish I had squatted on the domain...

After Friday and battlestar galaxative ends, I will have no reason at all to watch anything airing on that channel.

Just when you think you've seen the worst (Bonnie Hammer), they bring this goober in...

Caprica.

(had to throw that out there - I already bought a copy to be delivered when it's released)

Friday? I hope very much that's totally unrelated to Heinlein...

no, Friday is the end of the week, when the series finale of BSG airs. At this point, I'm watching simply to see how they are going to end the story, and if all the backtracking at the last minute actually does make sense (last week's episode contained a lot of backstory that doesn't really bear any relevance to subsequent events).

The flashbacks were there to show us these people actually used to be somewhat normal. It was character stuff.

I think this (http://www.reallifecomics.com/archive/090317.html) is a good comment on that. Especially the quote of one of the founders is quite... interesting.

I've heard a rumor that this has to do, among other things, with the fact that they can trademark SyFy but apparently not Sci-Fi.

All they're doing is mis-spelling it. They've been on the TNN/Spike titties and explosions road to hell for awhile now. Makes me wonder why the hell they called it "Sci-fi" to begin with.
