Dear Mary Landrieu:
Mar. 25th, 2009 08:47 pmPlease explain to me why you would go against your party and the currents of change to help the Republicans thwart President Obama's budget? We are on the cusp of a great opportunity to fix the mess wrought by the failed policies of Bush and the Republicans. Their actions and the resulting morass require bold counteraction. They have no new ideas, only the same bad ideas in mocking refrain.
Yes, you were elected in a largely conservative state. Yes, some of your constituents will be unhappy with you if you support President Obama. Unfortunately, those constituents have tended to vote against their own interests in favor of their prejudices. Do the right thing and support legislation that will improve Louisiana even though some residents won't be happy about it. They won't remember the bitter taste of the medicine after they've gotten better.
It's OK to be a Democrat.
