Crawfish Boil today

nolawitch58We've got plenty of food, paper towels, cups for drinks, trash bags, sunscreen, etc. I've got to pick up some ice on the way over to cram in the coolers. I want us to get the area under the trees over by the soccer fields because it's looking to be a sunny day and I prefer shade when possible. We had that area for the Second Annual and it was a nice semi-secluded spot. If you're a New Orleans local and you have an appetite for crawfish and some time to kill today, cruise over the Lafreniere Park near the Downs entrance and look for us. We'll be there from 11:00-ish onward until we peter out. Just yell, "LINUX" or "GEEKS" or "COMPUTERS" and we'll respond. I look like my avatar so I'm easily visible. Updates will be available later as well as pictures when we are all exhausted by eating and talking.
UPDATE 7:48 pm: I'm whipped. All but maybe one pound of crawfish got eaten. It took us about five hours to eat through it. Everyone dutifully applied sunscreen. Good thing too because![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
whoslurped (Eowyn) and P.Buttercup are paler than I am. In attendance were the aforementioned, sieldan, ideur, PenguinPete, notageek, carthax and lab_rattus. It was perfect weather. It wasn't too hot. lab_rattus and carthax were mock sword fighting and she took a hit to her knuckle tearing it open and bleeding copiously. First aid was applied and she called me a while ago sheepishly telling me it would probably scar but no worse than some of her other scars. I think I need to go crash now and get some rest. So much sun and alcohol wears me out.
