Chilly weather.
Mar. 22nd, 2010 11:29 amEverybody in Florida speeds, even the tourists after a while so they don't get run over. What a long schlep. I'm glad Florida is a flaccid peninsula. I can't imagine how much longer the trip would have been if it were erect. We'd still be on the road. "Take Exit 100! I hear they have a money shot!"
The trip down to Titusville took ten and a half hours. The trip back was only nine and a half, two of which were in the rain.
hmc_lavadog said that coming home is always faster than going in the first place. He was right. The difference can be accounted for by knowing the terrain on the return trip. That, and we tried to keep up with the residents who were speeding. The hotel was easy to find and comfortable, except for half of Saturday when they had no water due to a broken pipe. My only disappointment is that the launch was postponed to next month. We did go to Kennedy Space Center and see everything anyway. Hubby took a buttload of pictures with the new camera. I'll post some with my planned essay of why NASA is so great, a copy of which I'll be sending to everyone in Congress so they don't fuck with its funding.
If it weren't so chilly, today would be perfect. I've got laundry going and am stowing stuff. I'll shoot Pete an email asking when he wants his laptop back. In a couple of hours, I'll go to the supermarket. I'll review the pieces due for critique at the writers' group tonight. I may even start loading Fedora on hubby's new machine. It will need another hard drive, but I've got plenty of those. Once Fedora loads OK, I'll toss one of the other systems onto the test bench to load for Trixie. I don't know how I'll get it to her. Someone will either be going up or coming down from Shreveport at some point.
Back to tasks in progress.
