The two spindles of blank CDs I've had for a while seem to be from a bad batch. No wonder they were on sale. I can't get a decent set of Fedora discs to burn to save my keister from extinction. I'm not entirely sure it's the discs either. I'm downloading new images just to be sure. Instead, I'm installing Ubuntu on hubby's new system in hopes it's going to work better with Java and Flash so that he can play poker online and surf YouTube. Once I get that done, I can find a box that will work for Trixie. A geeky weekend will be had by me.

The NASA essay is still in progress, but I'll post it once finished. I had no idea so many products came from the space program.

Out of curiosity have you tried burning at 4X, it's worked for me in the past, but of course if the batch is bad that may still not work.

I tried it at 4X. No dice. The batch is bad. I've had one good disc out of about twenty so far. What can bad CDs be used for? Should I toss them into the plastic recycle bin?

What fedora release are you looking to get an image of?

Fedora 12. I've got the CD images, but they won't burn to disc worth a crap. Sometime last year, one of the office supply stores had a sale of discs for super cheap. Now I know why.

I believe I have a Fedora disc that I got as a gift with purchase of a magazine I bought a little while ago. The next time see you I can give it to you if you want to test it out. As for the version I want to say that it is 12. As for other things Welcome back and hope you had a relaxing vacation.

Thanks. Fedora 12 is what I downloaded. In the meantime, I've installed Ubuntu and it's working like a champ. I had some hardware issues and had to swap a sound card, but I should be done with the system today. I'm loading a second hard drive with about 4Gb of music and once I install it, I should be done. If it's early enough in the day, I'll probably swap out the CD-ROM for a reader/writer. I've got so much random hardware sitting around, I can do that.
