Need a vacation.
Jan. 27th, 2012 08:14 amLast weekend in Shreveport for World Religion Day consisted of the usual five-hour drive up there, the running around, the event itself, then the exhausted dinner afterward. At least we got to see the end of the Giants and 49ers game Sunday night. I went up with Charlotte and we stayed in a hotel instead of at Mike's house. She's allergic to dogs and cats, of which Mike had a lot. Charlotte was the keynote speaker and totally rocked it. The place was more crowded this year than previous years. The funny thing was that the Catholics didn't show up. An empty table and banner saying 'Catholic' was indicative of how they must feel about other faiths. Sad.
A while before going to Shreveport, the power supply in my computer smoked. I bought a new one, but it turned out to have taken the motherboard to the scrap heap with it. Had to buy a new motherboard. I finally got everything to my friend Joseph who does computer repair on the side. He called me last night to let me know he got it fixed. I hope I can go pick it up Sunday. Two weeks without my primary system is awful. My data is fine, but I need to develop better backup processes going forward because it's not just my data on it anymore.
This evening, I head out to Hopedale for the Peauxdunque Writers Group retreat. I made a batch of muffin-sized pumpkin pies to contribute to the food.
Next weekend, hubby and I will be going to his mother's for a Super Bowl party. I need a week away from it all.

Date: 2012-01-27 08:41 pm (UTC)It's unfortunate for the relationship I've had with my mother that the current RCC has pushed intolerance, since my mom can't be quoting to herself nice things from her religion anymore when she thinks about how I left said Church, and instead starts feeling obligated to try to bring me around. :(
C'est la vie. Have fun!

Date: 2012-01-27 10:46 pm (UTC)When something begins going wrong and eventually finishes going wrong you former folk get what you need to fix it, consult with any number of your other highly computer literate friends, work together, help each other out, and in no time come out with a completely fixed computer AND all your data.
Us latter folk stamp our little feet and cry. Then we go throw large sums of money at the checkout clerk at Frys.
(have a good weekend - 8])
