Tonight's going to be a bummer.

We have to eject someone from the writers' group tonight. She is completely unable to write past a middle school level. She has no idea how verbs work. She throws sentence fragments in as though they belong. Her ideas are juvenile. Last time we talked to her about improving her skills, she cried. Screw that noise. Tonight I get to be the heartless bitch everyone thinks I am.

UPDATE: She didn't cry, but she did say she didn't think her submission was so bad. I piped up with, "That is exactly your problem. You can't see it in your own writing so you can't help us with ours." I gave her a URL to a free online high school English grammar course. She had also complained she couldn't afford to take any classes that cost money. We took any other writers' submissions from her and left her with the choice to submit something via email several months down the road when she's done the hard work to improve to let us revisit her membership.

I don't envy you. It's one of the reasons I don't ever want to have a management job. I hate having the responsibility to kick people's ass.
