My electric cat box bit the dust so I had to go out and buy a new one. $160 for peace of mind as far as the cats' comfort goes is cheap. The last time I had to buy a new one was three years ago so I guess I can't complain. I got more batteries. The kitchen is clean and I dialled the fridge up to higher levels of cooling just in case.
Can I bitch about Google Earth? They don't have a download for Linux systems, the bastards. I know we represent a small fraction of the OS market, but we deserve a Google experience outside of our browser if the M$ people do. I might send them an email inquiring if they plan to release a Linux version just for shits and giggles if I don't have anything better to do later in the weekend.
Update 1.0: Trash is gone from the curb. There is a "Mythbusters" marathon on TV. I know what I'm going to be doing all day since there isn't much else to do except fill the bathtub and put more water jugs in the fridge.

Date: 2005-07-09 12:37 am (UTC)You might put the new cat box on a surge suppressor, if it's not already. Those pull a bit of power and might be effected if you lose (and regain) electricity.
Eh, and maybe Dennis will just peter out to nothing and dump rain on Mississippi. Good luck!

Date: 2005-07-09 12:45 am (UTC)The recycle bins were finally collected, but the trash remains on the street today. It's nearly 8:00 pm so they've probably quit picking up. I hope they come get it tomorrow. The newspaper said to put all trash and tree debris out for collection today. We did, but they didn't. I sure as hell wasn't going to leave it in my house.
Unfortunately, category 4 hurricanes don't usually peter out. They slam the coastline and then rain their way inland for a few hundred miles. I hope Mobile gets it. I hate to be that way, but screw having it come here.

Date: 2005-07-09 12:56 am (UTC)Cat 4 hurricanes are a bitch (hadn't seen that Dennis had gotten there yet). And yeah, I was going to wish him elsewhere, but couldn't think of anywhere that didn't have someone I know and care about. If it heads your way, stay as safe and comfortable as you can.

Date: 2005-07-09 01:10 am (UTC)These damned cats have literally dozens of toys scattered around the house. Why they seem interested in anything that isn't a toy I'll never know.

Date: 2005-07-09 04:44 am (UTC)Electric... WHAT?!
Date: 2005-07-09 05:42 am (UTC)You have to be patient with Google. They just gave out a beta version for Firefox, so Google is aware of the non-MS scene. Maybe you should write the mail in a polite form. If they give you the API... even better!
Re: Electric... WHAT?!
Date: 2005-07-09 05:47 am (UTC)I'll send Google a glowing email telling them how much I love their service and inquire as to when they will have Google Earth in Linux. I might even post a draft here in my LJ to get others' opinions before I send it. Thanks for the suggestion.
