The weekend was wonderful. My sinuses cleared up. We had a lovely time. It's 212 miles door to door. The car was getting close to 40 miles per gallon on the way back. Gas is so much cheaper up north.

On the agenda for this week: finish typing up the second Anne Rice file, buy the bicycle that I didn't get last week, write my article for Illiad, work on my novel, balance my checkbook and clean up my office. That should keep me busy and out of trouble for a while.

Happy for you and your sinuses.

What kind of bicycle are you buying? Road bike? Mountain bike? BMX? Adult tricycle? Bike shopping/buying is sooooo fun. You should get some inline skates too. Now those fun! Don't forget the helmet(trust me on this.

We need something fairly rugged in the way of a bike because the roads here are pretty rough and the bike paths on the lake and river aren't in the best shape either. Corpsman wants a mountain bike. I'm tending toward a road bike.

What do you mean "adult tricycle"? Those things are for old farts with no equilibrium.

No skates, no way. Bikes are bad enough for injury opportunities. I haven't skated in decades; I don't think I'd be any better at it now than I was then.

Go for the mountain bike. Perhaps a cross. Road bikes will have little skinny tires not suitable for rough streets. Although a road bike is much lighter and you can go much faster. Then again losing a tire while going 20mph can be painful.

Yes, adult tricylces are for old farts and the uncoordinnated.

My little sister never even tried rollerskating. I think watching her sister terrified her.

Good to hear the time was so well spent! I vote for a mountain bike, not so much for speed as getting around in all types of terrain. Eh, who am I kidding, I wouldn't be able to peddle 50 feet without having to stop and catch my breath!

BTW, I like your article you wrote already

I also like that you're getting a byline. I can never claim all my ghostwriting as my own.

What's "cheaper" for gas prices? What does it run near you these days? I never thought I'd be happy to see 2.50/gal for premium (my dad's volvo takes premium gas. I would never have bought this car, but I get to use it for "free")

Thanks.

I should be getting my next assignment today.

Gas is $2.59 cheapest here. It was $2.30 up in Alexandria.

Take care, ok?

*sigh* - another one lost to the sporty side... ;-)!

Seriously: Have fun!

I still have my bike from college, but it's beat all to shit after all these years. I need a new one. I used to be the terror of the bike path in Arizona. Some guy chased me down once and asked if I'd be interested in joining a racing team. I laughed at him.

Boah - I'm impressed!

Bike racing is brutal indeed...

Good to see you know what you're doing, though :-)!

I was wondering where you made your icon. Every place I find only has an inverted pentagram and I really don't want to use that. :)

I made it at the South Park Character Generator and it had the pentacle inverted initially. My pal [livejournal.com profile] celticess GIMPed it, putting it rightside up for me.

I'm hearing that noise again, the news reports that say that crap on the ground where you are will have some serious long term effects the longer you breath it! There are petrolium-based nasties (damn my againg short term, I can NEVER remember big long chemical names now) in that gunk, that's now dry and being kicked up into your air.

Word is they shouldn't have let anyone back in, anywhere. In the immortal words of Jack Nicholson as the Joker, "This town needs an enema!"

This town really needs a couple of good rains to wash this crap away. I know there are people everywhere working feverishly away at getting their rooves repaired, but we really do need some rain. If someone doesn't have a blue roof yet, chances are the stuff in the house is already ruined from Katrina and Rita anyway.

Your comment seemed well-informed, so I stopped by your journal. Hello, fellow/sister RWU denizen (at some point in time). :)

Thanks! What year did you graduate, fellow alum?

Oh, I didn't graduate - I'm not much of a student, sadly - but I was there from '93 to '96.

I take it you did graduate. Congrats! What did you study? I majored in creative writing. :)
