Tomorrow I go to the office in Harvey and start organizing and cleaning. I was over there this afternoon schlepping office stuff that we had at Tulane back to the company's premises. The place is a freaking mess. The guys are going to be organizing the shop area. I'm going to make pot after pot of coffee and get at least my part of the office tidy. Why they crammed all the file cabinets into that room, I'll never know.

I'm going to inventory the office equipment. There are boxes stashed in the closets that will have to be stashed elsewhere to get the closets freed up for office supplies. I've also got to bring a bunch of twist ties to tidy up the tangle of wires under the desk. Inventory the office supplies and keep a list of consumables to replenish at Office Depot. The task is going to be quite a challenge.

The computer is adequate although it contains Windows XP and a "trial" version of Office. I'll have to get Office running on the desktop because that laptop screen is killing my eyes. There's filing to do for weeks if not months. The chaos over there is a Discordian's dream. For me, it's a lot of work.

While at Tulane's library, I made friends with a couple of staff members. I'm going to keep in touch with Suzanne from Circulation because she's majorly cool and will give me access to whatever I want when they're back up and running. The guy Bill, who teaches Colonial Louisiana History, is also pretty nifty. I'll probably check in on him occasionally. Suzanne wants to get together around Mardi Gras.

We're supposed to have a three-day weekend. That's the rumor anyway. I'm hoping for it so that I can get a load of stuff done around the house that I've been putting off because I've been too tired to fool with it. I finally balanced my checkbook after all these months. I was off by a penny which I spent over an hour looking for. That penny drove me crazy. The numbers didn't look as bad as I thought they would. In fact, I'm in pretty decent shape financially for having been out of work for a year and going through a natural disaster.

We're going to have New Year's Eve here at the house. Pete may get some fireworks and we'll shoot them off in the parking lot or out in the street. Corpsman and I will get happily drunk and watch a bunch of silly stuff on TV. He's thrilled these days to have a combination VCR/DVD recorder I got him for Yule. It was a last-minute present due to the fact that Borders didn't get the boxed set of "West Wing" that I ordered almost three weeks ago. I wonder exactly when it will show up. I still need to get a calendar which they were totally out of when I went there last Saturday after lunch with [livejournal.com profile] lab_rattus and Pete. I hope they get some more soon and that they have them when my "West Wing" order comes in.

Aside from working, I've not been doing much else. Does anyone know if that zoo in England ever found their purloined penguin?

Aaahhh, Tulane library. Had alot of fun in that plae when I was in HighSchool. Some of my friends and I would play hide'n'seek. I know what you ar thinking...we should have been beaten...

Anyway, it was good seeing you and Pete. Depending on what happens job wise I want to head back to New Orleans for Mardi Gras. I would love to help Pete shoot off fireworks. Did I tell about the Roman Candle War I was in??
My favorite thing is to launch multiple bottle rockets from an empty 2 liter coke, you hold he bootle above your head or away from your face. Fun stuff.
Tossy 1/4 or 1/2 sticks down the storm drain is plenty fun.

Did you know you can have combustion without flames?

You are SO crazy! If you're ever in a Roman Candle War, you should be wearing a toga. Speaking of Toga, did that zoo in England ever find their penguin? Do you think some looney Linux user swiped it?

No I was not wearing a toga...and I am not as crazy as used to be.

I have no idea about the penguin. Hopefully the little guy was returned.

Woo Hoo!

Maybe you can come organize my basement? No amount of spousal cajoling is making any headway.

I've also acquired a DVD/VCR recorder for Yule, and I've started converting VHS tapes to DVD already. At some point this year, I will have a major film collection on tape available.

Battlestar Galactica (season 2) and Serenity arrived today, and I've already watched 4 episodes, and likely to watch another couple before I head off for bed. West Wing is a series I would also like to own at some point, but I think I'll wait for people to gift that to us (or I'll just borrow my brother's set).

I'm slightly jealous about the fireworks. All that fun stuff is illegal up here.

Hope you like the album :-D

No idea...

...about that Penguin, sorry.
The Rapperswil zoo lost two "Meerkats", by the way - they dug up the whole sand heap those two lived in and they stayed gone. Nobody has a clue. They were in a locked house, too. Weird.
Hope they all make it, somehow...

Keep up the good work - and say hi to Suzanne :-D!
