Midweek, I gave up trying to check email or anything else on the computer at home. I have read three tech manuals out of a dozen for one system we're running. I've learned four or five modules and documented two. I can almost understand the chatter that goes on around me in Spanish. I still don't have a login for the network yet and I'm supposed to have a phone on Monday.

The weather change didn't help. It's been cold at night and that has been making the old bones creakier than usual lately. It also didn't help that my period decided to show up this week. Thank the deities for Aleve. The only trouble with that is [livejournal.com profile] hmc_lavadogs said he saw a story in the news that Aleve can cause heart attacks. He said it would be like the Vioxx thing. Sacre merde! Is there nothing that alleviates pain without causing some weird side effect?

The mall sucked ass this morning. I went to Penneys for a sale because I need pants for work. I would have preferred some Dockers, but settled for some Gloria Vanderbilts. The suits they had were on sale, but none of the damned things had pockets in the pants. They didn't have shoes either. I did end up at Payless over on Vets by the mall and found a new pair of sneakers for cheap. I still need to either resurrect footwear from my closet or buy new ones. The soles of the ones I've been wearing have holes in them. They're manmade uppers so they're not even worth taking to Tip Top for replacements. If they were good leather, I'd get them resoled.

Yeesh. What a week. I'm whipped. I'm doing nothing tomorrow except watching TV (Geaux Saints!), reading the paper and writing.

I don't know if it is the same thing, but Naproxen is bad news, or can be. If that's the active ingredient, monitor yourself carefully. If you start feeling heart palpitations or unusual cardiac activity, quit using it.

I've used Aleve(naproxen) for years with no problem. I have developed some new creeks as well. Sometimes I need to take Soma with aspirin for muscle spazms. Tis nice stuff.... Try Advil. I find it less effective, but if it works.......

Paracetamol?

That's what they use here. It's supposed to be pretty harmless...

You have to wear suits? They won't accept jeans and a jacket? Phew... Pants without pockets are indeed evil :-).

I'll look into paracetamol. Europe is so much more sensible about over the counter drugs. Here, it's probably prescription only. I don't think I've ever seen it on the shelf with the aspirin, ibruprofin, acetominophen and naproxen. I'll ask a pharmacist next time I go to Rite Aid.

No, I don't have to wear suits on a daily basis, but there are meetings to attend with upper management. Those are going to be interesting.

No, it's bloody not!! Europe, now :-).

Ibuprofen is prescription only, for example. So are all antibiotics - that, though, I consider a lot more sensible indeed. Your whole population will probably be immune to most of them in a decade, tops...

Remember I ran around with that recipe of mine for the headache drug? Finally found a pharmacist in Farmington who made sense of it - she told me I would need a prescription there, too, sadly. At least now I know what they call it Cafergot. Ergotamine and caffeine. Nothing dangerous, to a sound kidney ;-).

Aha - Bullshit-Bingo :-D! Yep, that will be "interesting". Especially how long it will take you to visibly grind your teeth, or even burst out with some pretty on the point rant ;-P. Wish I could play mouse in there...!

(Okay, "spellchecker": I know how you hate anything made up of more than one (short!) syllable. But I am NOT going to cut Farming ton apart, in any serious text...)
