My legs are killing me today. That happens when you're a desk worker and suddenly spend six hours or more on your feet. Pete and his former girlfriend Cheryl who is in town went with

hmc_lavadogs and me downtown to the corner of St. Charles and Gravier. We parked in the garage I park in daily for work. We had the restrooms in the building where I work to use. The only thing we neglected to take into account was that we weren't spring chickens anymore and couldn't do all that standing for hours and hours. We're going to buy fold up chairs. Cheryl and Pete both walk with canes and she looked like she was about to keel over after a while. Hubby asked some of the people in front of us if she could use one of the chairs they had but none of them seemed to be using. We installed her in the chair and the rest of the evening was uneventful.

The number of people who appeared to be arriving from the airport and trying to make their way through the throngs of parade goers was amazing. They threaded their way through the crowds dragging luggage headed toward hotels in the Quarter. I told one couple they'd have to wait to get to Bourbon Street until after the parade since they were on the wrong side of Canal to even think about it. I guess their cab drivers dumped them on Poydras and got the hell out of there. Really, they should have been driven out to Elysian Fields and come in through the back of town. Better to be deposited on Esplanade where you only have to walk eight to ten blocks than to be dropped geographically closer a few blocks from Canal when it's blocked by a long-assed parade.

The coolest throw we got was a little stuffed polar bear. We gave it to our youngest cat to play with. She loves it.

Traffic wasn't too horrible and we were home before midnight. Now we await the Superbowl tonight followed by House. I'm going to try to organize the pantry. When we went to get the little cooler out of there yesterday, we had to dig down to it and pull it out like a cork. Yikes.
