Make a list of things you need and/or want to accomplish this year above and beyond regular chores. Be as inclusive and specific as you want, from repainting the dog house to cleaning out the "junk drawer" in the kitchen, and note if a task is time-sensitive. If some of it is private, such as schedule a colonoscopy and keep the appointment, you don't have to post it in your blog, just keep it somewhere for future reference.

At regular intervals, every month or every quarter, post an update as to your progess. This exercise will give us all some perspective on the herculean effort change requires in our own lives. When we start to gripe about how little our government is accomplishing, we can review our own list and be a little more charitable toward our leaders.

Finish at least one chapter of Ruxandra every month.
Configure two complete computers for gifts.
Scavenge attic for yard sale items.
Rid myself of twenty more pounds.
Reassess wardrobe and ditch rarely worn items.
Keep my budget spreadsheet updated every month.
Totally pay off two debts.
Apply for grants for the museum.
Submit one of my vampire short stories everywhere until it gets published.
Organize all writing projects. (Don't start any more until ones in progress are finished.)
Paint the closets upstairs.

This is a start. I'm sure more will occur to me as time goes by. I will post an update on each task every month.

That is a very neat thought. Comparing our own lists to that of your handsome new president should leave everyone a lot more grateful for their lot in life :-D!

And hopefully more appreciative about his attempts at sorting the whole mess.

Good luck with your plans!

If anybody should start whining by March or April that nothing's getting done (as you know they will), I'm going to pop them. It has taken a long time for the Republicans to fuck things up this badly. Anyone who expects it to clear up overnight is a fool.

I am relieved we selected the most intelligent candidate and rejected the mouth-breathing moron party.

My list is posted. And as an exercize, I listed some of the stuff I managed to get done LAST year. I think I'm entitled to some sort of expecations for the new government. (I do realize I'm still sleeping on a mattress on the floor, and that "project" has been delayed at least by 1 year, but that's on my list for next year :p)

The only thing I expect Obama to do is not make anything worse. I don't expect him to be able to accomplish anything he promised, because there is no money to do any of it.
