And that's the way it was.
Jul. 17th, 2009 08:13 pmWalter Cronkite dead at 92. As a Scorpio, I find it reassuring that such a trusted and reassuring guy was also a Scorpio.
I have a Walter Cronkite story. When I worked Tech Support for the craptacular mail-order computer business, he had purchased one of our deluxe, state-of-the-art systems. It was a 486DX66. He phoned in because his config file had gotten hosed, as they used to do so often. A coworker spoke to him and bragged about talking to the anchor. I thought that was pretty cool. A few days later as I was taking the messages off the voice mail, a familiar, avuncular voice made my heart go pitty-pat and my ears perk up. I had his phone number. I called him. He answered the phone. To my disappointment, he was on his way out the door and I couldn't walk him through troubleshooting his system. I think he may have thought I was some secretary or something since he told me he would call my coworker back when he returned home.
That's my story. Rest in peace.
